Recently bought a Marantz SR7005 Receiver, 2 RTI 12's for the fronts, bi amped with an XPA-2 powering the woofers and receiver pushing 125 to the mids and highs, CSI 5 for the center channel, PSW505 for the sub and just picked up 2 RTI 6's for the surrounds. Looking for some input on rears....
Fronts - Rti12's
Center - CSi5
Sub - PSW505
Surrounds - RTi 6's
Rears - ________?
Receiver - Marantz SR7005
Amp - XPA2 powering front woofers of RTi12's
10 Gauge Wiring of course all around...a must =D

if you want to keep everything direct radiating, get another set of RTi6's or the smaller RTi4's for surround backs. If you want to get a diffused sound for the rears, got for some FXi6's then you can move the RTi6's to the surround back location.

    Home Setup: Sony VPL-VW85 Projo, 92" Stewart Firehawk, Pioneer Elite SC-65, PS3, RTi12 fronts, CSi5, FXi6 rears, RTi6 surround backs, RTi4 height, MFW-15 Subwoofer.

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

    Welcome to the forum!

Just curious, how are you able to bi-amp using a single AVR and a single amp?

It's nice to have the same tone all the way around if possible, so my vote is for another set of RTi6.

I have seen the FXi6s, but have never heard them...(and no-one local carries polk) how do those compare to the RTi6's?

Maybe my "bi amp" term is incorrect im new to the HT setup been in car stereo for years... I am using the XPA2 to power the 3 woofers so 300 to each 12's woofers and then just using the receivers 125 for the tweet and mids.

I did it this way because i figured 300 watts to the tweet and mids would just be too much... i blew one of my MB Quart 6.5 separates in my car with 125 to each and they were much louder than what these polks can produce. (no serious numbers or tests to validate this other than my ears which everyones are different, but it was my logic when i bought and ran it all. =D )

I will say I am very disappointed in the RTi6's maybe because I had the 12's and then got the 6's and i know its a whole different speaker and level of speaker, so I am hesitant to do that... would it be a hinderance or downfall to get another set of 12's (or of the liking) for the rears?

and thank you. I am new here =)

I think you would be better off powering your 12's with just the XPA2, don't worry about blowing the mid's and tweet's. You would be better off doing that and saving the power of your AVR for the rest of your speakers. I have the A9's (newer version of the 12's) and I am using the XPA2 to power them with no problem, I think they sound great this way.

@Zane, I will have to give that a try I thought about doing it but when I got it all here i went with the way it is now and had zero complaints..... but an extra 175 thru the mids and tweets does peak my interest. I will have to give it a go this weekend and see what I think.

How close would a pair of FXI A6 match my current speakers?
