I was searching for info on the new Bryston BDP-2 digital file player, and I came across the AudioAficionado site. Looking though it I saw that a Bryston VP posted there so I decided to join. They use the same forum software as Polk, but are a bit stricter with posting. For example, after joining your 1st 10 posts must be approved by mods, and you cannot start new threads. They even have a gun forum for the lunatic fringe.

Solutions are easy. Polk HQ either getting, ultimately receiving, implementing or being able to decide on something is a different story. There are different ways of going about SPAM, it just depends on what route to choose. I'll just throw this out there. If the Polk admins want to curb this issue with little to no money or effort with maximum proven return, they can contact me. This will be the last time I will mention this. I know for a fact that it works, I see it everyday...or rather, I don't see it and it's refreshing.

This is beating a dead horse, isn't it? The spam on the forum rarely lasts more than a few minutes if during the day or hours (if done in the middle of the night) and are propmptly removed. Its not that big of a deal to grin and bear it and not click the threads that are obvious spam. Asking or suggesting Polk throw more money or resources for a forum that they choose to support (and lets face it - it is more for us then them) is barking up the wrong tree. Just seems like the more we ask for, the more likely it is for Polk to pull the plug on the whole thing.Shawn

Hello, Shawn. They are back again and while this may be beating a dead horse to you, many members have complained more about spammers than anything else. Has it ever occurred to you that it might be an issue for users? I must admit, it doesn't really bother me when I see SPAM because I just utilize my time elsewhere until the spammers have been removed. Polk pulling the plug on the whole thing over requests for improvement I don't see happening.

Hello Tom. It's the repeated requests for improvement that get exhausting. This has been addressed numerous times in the many years I have been here. Polk has improved the forum in MANY ways ; if they thought at all that it was a problem or something that needed addressing it would have been done now. How long was the SPAM active on the forum when you noticed it? I would bet less than 5 minutes. Someone (a volunteer most likely) is being alerted to it and taking care of it in a timely fashion. It doesn't last for hours or days. expecting a quicker solution is just nit picking IMHO. It may be an issue for users and annoying, but I don't expect to throw money or resources into something so minute as an inconvenience of seeing a SPAM thread for a few minutes. Again just my .02 and I will check out of the threadShawn

It's not just the annoying ads, it's the malicious viruses and whatnot that accompanies some of it. Just my 2 cents worth of uninformed drivel. If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Apparently not. The horse is starting the new year with business as usual. It's not dead yet.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
