Rogue audio........

What have you owned and can you comment?

I want to buy a US made tube amp.

I have done some research but would like to hear some "Polkie" advice/experience first hand.

I know a guy (who I trust) that has some experience, but would like your experience/opinion if you have owned Rogue amps.

Looking at the "Stereo 90" REAL heavy!
    Anyone have any experience?
I will be running it with an Atoll preamp (for now) if that helps any.

    Attachment not found.

I have the Cronus Magnum. Very well made and am very happy with mine. Top notch customer service too! Might sell mine one day due to loss of interest in hobby.

Hey Pep! I am looking at the same amp rite now! Also considering a pair of Mono 150's from Rogue! The M150's are at a local HIFI shop, and can can be had around $3700 for a pair of demo's! The 90 is around $2400! Just cant make up my mind! I have heard the 90,and was very impressed! Just dont know if I can justify the extra coin for mono's,as I haven't heard them on a comparable speaker!

I just saw a 90 sell for $900 + shipping, that is why this whole thread seemed "rushed"

I did not have the courage to buy not knowing enough about this brand.

I am now packing my truck with enough supplies to last a couple of days, so I can go kick brgman's A$$ (he vanished on me and my pm's!)

I am on my way Mike, please, please answer the door!:cool::lol::razz:

Knowing him like I do, I DO NOT want him to answer the door to be honest!

IIRC, he sold his Stereo 90 for $1300 but cannot remember 100%.

Thanks Paul! It sounds great with your PCs I can attest to that! I'm running some NOS GE 6550 power tubes with the Eighty Eight and it's simply glorious. I also have some Wing C KT88s that sound awesome also. I prefer the glorious midrange and sweet bottom end of the GE 6550s however. You can run 6550s, KT88s, KT90s, and I believe KT120s with the ST90 however (confirm that with the 90s and 120s before you try). The Eighty Eight has all the muscle I need to push my SRS 2s and then some, and that's in triode mode. The ST90 has even more power so you are in for a treat!

I WILL be pming you in the future because to be honest I am not familiar with tubes.
Noobish, I know just enough to cost me money for not knowing enough!
    Does that make sense?

I just need to get into some tubes, and I am looking for the best possible route, and would prefer a
US made amp (just how I roll).
    Any other suggestions?

Manley, VTL, BAT and Cary.....all made in the USA. Hard to go wrong with any of them.

Give me a hollar when you pick it up. You are in for a real treat! Careful though, there is usually only one cure the tube addiction. I'll give you a hint, its the same cure as for taxes :-)!

Have had two Rogue Preamps in the past and currently have a Cronus Magnum Integrated, it drives my SDA's into sonic bliss. Rock solid products at a reasonable price. GOOD Customer Service and as mentioned, Made in the U.S.

"If" I ever decide to get back into seperates, I will own the Perseus pre and one or two of their amps. I will be picking up their Ares Phono Pre one day in the near future.

I will always have Rogue in the chain somewhere.

I have a Rogue 99 Super Magnum. It sounds great. The preamp is built in the USA (Pennsylvania) and the service and people at Rogue are great to deal with. I highly recommend Rogue.

If you want to give tubes a try & don't want to break the bank, then why not DIY? I built a Dynakitparts.com ST-35 & am extremely pleased. The JJ EL84 tubes I bought for it originally were, shall we say, problematic. After switching to a matched quad of NOS Soviet military tubes (EL-84M I think they're called in English--I can't reproduce the Cyrillic characters) from Jim McShane, all is bliss.

    Cheers, Jim

No, I have not tried the KT120's yet.

I have the Shuguang KT88-T, 12AX7-T and 12AU7-T tubes in the monoblocks. I like way they pleasantly changed the sound and will keep them in until they need to be replaced.
