Late 1940"s early 50's Philco HiFi , what do I do with it?

Looking for info on my grandparents old HiFi I recently acquired from my parents. They said someone told them it may have tubes in it that have some value. Keep it and restore? Or just part out? Anyone know about these?

    Search the web for collectors of this type stuff. By all means, do not part it out.
    If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

    Unless it was still in use up to the day you acquired it, do NOT plug it in. Otherwise, it's quite possible the caps are dried out and you'll have a real problem on your hands.

    You can either have someone bring the amp section up to spec or just keep it for show in your home.

    I have had some of this stuff over the years and I found it was just better to get rid of it. C.L.or E-bay make someone a happy owner. I still hang onto one 1930's GE radio which is fairly pristine and almost comes to life every once in a while. I did listen to the 1984 Detroit Tigers on it.:mrgreen:
