MM 651 active?

I am interested in running a set of MM651's active by using my head unit and the internal crossovers inside the Polk 5000.5. I am wondering if anyone has run active with them?

    Not sure if you can run active with MM651. The 651 are coaxials. To run active you need to connect the mid bass and tweeter to independent amp channels and you need to set the LP/HP for each driver separately. You can't do wither of these with the coax's. You would need a component set to run active. Since you're using the dsp on the amp, you can save money by buying raw drivers. Part of the cost you pay for a component set goes towards the passive cross over which you won't need in any case.

    The 651 has an external 2 way passive crossover with separate inputs for the woofer and the tweeter. There won't be any problems hooking up the 5000.5 to power the driver. I would prefer a better crossover than what is supplied. With the 5000.5 I can change the crossover point to what sounds better to me. JPS
