Polk SDA 2B - is price too high to pay?

I am looking at a very nice pair of Polk SDA 2B speakers not too far from me (well, a 3 hour drive away me since they are located in Boston, MA). The Seller wants $375 for them. He says they are mint/near mint and he also has the inter-connect cable. Is $375 too much to pay for SDA 2b? I have heard they are fantastic speakers and have always been intrigued by the Polk SDA series. From what I have read on this forum, I think the SDA 2B would be a good SDA model for me - right size, right price range, etc.

Please let me know if $375 is a fair price for the SDA 2Bs.

Thanks.

I think 250-400 is the normal range for a pair in excellent shape. 375 may be a little on the high side, but for 375 bucks I don't know what else you could buy that would rival them in sound quality. I say try to talk him down to 300, 325, 350, whatever, but pick them up even if he doesn't budge.

Forgot about your 3 hour drive.. hmm, try for 3 cash and see what he says.

Where are you located, BTW, I might have an extra pair of 2B's..

I have always had Polk Monitor series speakers (Monitor 5, 7, 10) and especially love the sound of my Monitor 10A speakers but I have heard that the SDA series is an upgrade (is that correct?) and the SDA 2B seems like the right fir for me in terms of size and price range. Please let me know your thoughts.

I have also owned the Monitor 5, 7, and 10. The SDA-2B's are not just an upgrade; they are an entrance into new sound, the likes of which you have never experienced. Godspeed on your travels, my friend; the rabbit hole is dark and deep.

I paid 220 for mine, but had a few cosmetic issues. Nothing major, but certainly not mint. They are nice stock, but way better with mods. Modding adds up quickly, so try and get him down a bit.

I paid $200 for a pair in mint condition not one blemish with interconnect cable, and would of gladly paid $375 had he asked. I say if they are on your budget go on and get them, heck I'am excited for you. I thought nothing could sound as good as my Acoustic Research AR 58's till I got a hold of my 2B's. I now own 3 pair of SDA's since joining the club, welcome to the club and the rabbit hole. Mint you say go on and get them, and make sure he has'nt had many offers before you try to talk him down in price. Good Luck.

back in them, not sure how far that trip is but south jersey is how many miles from you? The SDA bug has bitten cure that itch:cheesygrin:

Thanks. I actually was tempted by the CRSs and was contemplating between the SDA 2Bs or CRSs. I asked about them and how far away they were from where I am (Albany, NY) but, unforetunately, it is about a 5 hour drive from me. Also, I think I'd prefer to get a pair of SDA 2Bs because I assume they are a bigger and better-sounding speaker overall. I am sure the CRS are wonderful as well but I do not know much about them. I have heard lots of great things bout the SDA 2Bs.

then 2B's it is, check out my profile and Threads started in there you will see pics of CRS+,s and 2B's side by side they all sound excellent and still need to be upgraded saving my pennies little at a time. I think you should put gas in the car and check those 2B's out.

Are you aware that the 2Bs came in two forms ? One is a "Studio" cabinet version covered in a cheesey, woodgrained vinyl, the other are the ones with wood caps on the base and top. Very different appearances. I paid $167.00 for a pair of the "cheesey" ones,$200.00 was gonna' be my limit for them.

I like monitors have a few pair but if you can understand what an SDA speaker systems represents any other speaker is well just a speaker.
They have to be set up right in the room to show what they can do.
It's like going to a regular theater then going to IMAX!
If they are mint and all drivers are good with the interconnect cable then offer $350 (to help with the gas)
but if he won't budge just buy them and be glad you got a clean nice set that you can start enjoying right away.
These can be TL'ed, are the last and best of the SDA2's, they have a just a little more bass than the CRS+, don't need stands
of course and are 6 ohms so you can use a lot more standard amplifiers and receivers.
If they are pin/blade they were the last 2b"s

Thanks for all your input. I dfinitely want to grab them but, unfortuantely it does not look good because I have not heard from Seller since early yesterday morning even though I sent 3 emails last night confirming sale, etc. I hope I am not too late. Thanks again.
