info wanted on shipping speakers - options, cost, etc?

I am thinking about buying a pair of speakers online. The price of the speakers is fair but I am worried about shipping cost (speakers weigh over 50 lbs each) and also risk of damage.

Has anyone shipped speakers?
What is the best option in terms of shipping company?
What can one expect to pay for shipping?

    I have shipped 150+ pound speakers....

    I buy 2" foam at Lowes, 4'x8' - I cut it to the exact size of the speaker and encase the speaker in the foam...

    Never had a speaker damaged yet, shipped by Fed Ex
