Ok, here's my system:
Yamaha RX-V540 - http://www.yamaha.ca/av/Receivers/rxv540.asp
Polk RM6700 satellites - http://www.polkaudio.com/home/products.php?category=2&speaker=317
Dayton Audio 300-632 sub - http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&User_ID=16451239&St=7248&St2=47016003&St3=46165356&DS_ID=3&Product_ID=122583&DID=7
My question is: What is the best way to hook up the sub/speakers?
The problems are as follows:
a) from what I've read here, the 6700's have an internal high-pass filter that only allows signals of 150Hz or higher. I haven't found this info posted anywhere officially in the speaker specs though
b) My AVR's LFE out jack is set to 90Hz. This cannot be changed (as far as I know).
c) The sub's high-pass output has a 125Hz filter on it.
So, I can hook up the sub/speakers in one of two ways:
1) Hook up all the satellites to the appropriate output on the AVR. Hook up the sub to the LFE output jack.
- The problem with this method are that the speakers only play >150Hz, and sub will only get <90Hz, so I have a "hole" in the sound from 90Hz to 150Hz, correct?
2) Hook up the center and surrounds to the appropriate ouputs on the AVR. Send the L/R output from the AVR to the high-pass in on the sub. Hook the L/R speakers to the high-pass output on the sub.
- If I understand this correctly, the sub's filter will send everything 125Hz + to the L/R satellites, and everything else will get played through the sub, correct? This way, I will only have a "hole" between 125Hz and 150Hz.
Is all this correct? If not, please enlighten me! Is there a better way to hook this up?
Thanks,

As a recent owner myself of the 6700s and a PSW404 - I recommend the Polk way - wiring the front sats thru the sub, AVR set to NO SUBWOOFER, mains set to large. Sub dialed all the way to 125Hz.
I love it, it makes for a very well balanced arrangement. I also leave the sub powered on, so I don't miss any lows that the sub doesn't fire on. Some people complained about a hum, but I don't notice one at all.
Just watched T3 again, I could play that highway chase scene over and over and over with these speakers. It's just like I'm standing in the street!
Enjoy,
Zig
