Are wall warts interchangeable?

I bought some led light bars that mount behind the flat panel tv, they are blue 15 inches, add nice ambient lighting, you know the drill.

They are from cyron, now, after a few years, they strobe instead of staying on constantly, but if you twist the wall wort plug they will act right for a second or two.

These are a bit unusual in that the actual prongs that go into the wall outlet come off with the flip of a slider switch, I suppose for other countrys outlet setup?

My question, if i get another wall plug with the same values printed on it as this one, can i just cut and splice it onto the existing power cord with this light set?

BTW, this set has a rocker on off switch on up the line to turn lights on and off if that makes a diff.

i have an email and a phone message into the company, but so far no luck.

They have a remote kit, with two remote controllers for a keychain, not sure why 2, or why for a keychain, but if that works, might just buy it for convenience for 25 bucks as we really like the lights themselves.

As always, thanks for any advice, and sorry if this is unintelligble.

Not 100 percent sure, but I doubt it is the Wall Wart.
My thoughts are if they are coming on at all, it prolly is not your power supply.
I would lean more to the LED's.

I am a little more secure saying this may be the issue, but not 100% IMHO.

Just ensure that the output, AC vs. DC is the same and the voltage is the same.

And if it's DC (and it probably is) make sure that you wire up the polarity correctly. Get a meter and measure twice before cutting the cable.

thanks guys, it does convert to dc, I will wait to see if the company gets back to me before cutting and splicing.

Wondering if both led strips (separate) would do the exact same thing at the same time (strobing) instead of the wart which controls both.

Will also report back here to let all know if cyron customer service is up to snuff, not whether they give me a break on replacement parts or anything, seeing this is a few years old, just more whether or not they respond helpfully so others will know if they want to deal with them.

Their light bars were below 30 bucks, available in red, blue or white, and now multi colored and changing, and cast a hell of a light, so much so I had to adjust much of the stick to face the tv back or else it would have been too much.

Just to recap; four important parameters for wall wart power supplies (I think one may not have been mentioned)

    1. AC or DC (some are just transformers, others also include rectification and filters)
    2. Voltage
    3. Polarity (center connector positive or negative)
    4. Current capability (if the load is too much for the wall wart, it will fail quickly)

As an aside, it is possible to run LED lighting from AC or DC (since LEDs are diodes and the will rectify AC to DC within their current capacity). Just thought that was worth mentioning.

these two are IMHO are the most important
most folk do not know that the center and outer of the plug can be very different that is why they put that little symbol on the wart. pay close attention
