Denon AVR-1803... Zone 2 putting out whine and distortion

Hey guys, I've been using a Denon AVR-1803 for my home theater for the last nine years. Today I thought it would be fun to wire a pair of speakers into the bathroom for listening to podcasts, etc. while showering. Much to my dismay I'm getting mostly whine in the Zone 2 speakers at normal levels and when turning up the Zone 2 volume I hear the source audio but it's very distorted. Do receivers like this have two amps? Has the Zone 2 amp gone bad? I'm hoping it's purely operator error but I feel like I've tried everything. I wired the speakers to the main channels, no problems there, so the wire and speakers are good. I did a factory reset on the unit to make sure it wasn't a strange setting issue, but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
James

Did you try going into the receivers menu, sometimes you have to turn on zone 2 to redirect the power.HT SYSTEM-

I did. When it's off it's silent as expected, when it's on that's when the whine starts.Home:
