Receiver or Speaker Upgrade

Hello everyone. I am currently trying to decide whether or not to upgrade my receiver or speaker setup. I am currently pushing a pair of Monitor 50 fronts, a CS1 center, RM101s surrounds, and a BIC H-100 subwoofer with an Onkyo TX-SR505 with a Sony KDL46NX720 and PS3 for display purposes.

I currently have the lead on a 5 speaker RTi setup for $900 that includes a pair of RTi A7s, FXi A4s, and a CSi A4 center. Would I be better off upgrading my speakers or receiver given my current setup with $1000?

Thanks in advance!

Get the speakers, then see if the AVR needs upgrading.

Agreed with F1. Get the speakers and upgrade your sub/AVR afterward. From there your setup will be even more intense.

+3. And $900 wouldn't be a terrible price for the rti system.

Agreed with all the above. Speakers first!

Suggestion for a future avr: get one with pre-outs .

    My vote, the speakers first.

Thanks for the input everyone. Great stuff! Couple more concerns - 1) My concern with the RTi setup is that I'm going to experience a decline in performance secondary to the TX-SR505 being overwhelmed and underpowered and hear a decline in my listening experience. 2) What do you all consider to be a fair price for these speakers 1yr used and in excellent condition without boxes? 3) Will I be missing out on much by having the FXi & CSi A4s instead of the A6s matched with the A7s? Thanks again!
