RTi or Receiver Upgrade
Hello everyone. I am currently trying to decide whether or not to upgrade my receiver or speaker setup. I am currently pushing a pair of Monitor 50 fronts, a CS1 center, RM101s surrounds, and a BIC H-100 subwoofer with an Onkyo TX-SR505 with a Sony KDL46NX720 and PS3 for display purposes.
I currently have the lead on a 5 speaker RTi setup for $900 that includes a pair of RTi A7s, FXi A4s, and a CSi A4 center. Would I be better off upgrading my speakers or receiver given my current setup with $1000? Thanks in advance!

I would jump on the RTI setup for that price. You can always get a new avr for fairly cheap from www.accessories4less.com later on.AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808

Fronts: Polk RTI A7 (modded by Trey VR3)
Center: CSI A4 (modded by Trey VR3)
Rear: FXI A4
Sub: Polk DSW Pro 660wi
TV: LG Infinia 50PX950 3D
Speaker Cable: AudioQuest Type 8
IC: AudioQuest Black Mamba II -

My concern with the RTi setup is that I'm going to experience a decline in performance secondary to the TX-SR505 being overwhelmed and underpowered and hear a decline in my listening experience. Also, what do you all consider to be a fair price for these speakers 1yr used and in excellent condition without boxes. -

The A7 new on sale would cost almost $900 itself. I would get them and get a Onkyo 809 now new onsale for $426 from Amazon. This deal won't last long and I bet in next 6-9 months a refurb from a4l will cost more. The 809 should be able to drive your A7 with out an amp for now and have pre-out for future amp upgrade.MAIN:

External amplification is always a good way to go, especially when your getting into RTi series and others! A good 2 channel to push the mains would be fine and I suspect your AVR can handle surround and center duty. Thats what I have in mind for my setup.AVR - Onkyo NR809

Thanks for the help everyone. I noticed that you have a very similar setup yourself. Do you feel as though you are missing out on anything by having the FXi & CSi A4s vs the A6s? Also, what size room are you using these in? Any of your or anyone's input would be greatly appreciated. -
I don't know. There is always going to be the what if. I don't have room for the CSI a6. And I don't think you would notice near as much between the FXI4's and 6's.AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808

I would go for the RTi A package for that price.
Personally, I liked the CSi A4 better than the A6...
