Does anyone know anything about the Yamaha YP-701 turnatble? How is it?
I know it is a semi-automatic belt drive turntable made around 1974. I know Yamaha produced some lovely turntable, such as the YP D8 and YP D10, in the 1970s but I do not know much about the YP 701. But it looks very nice as well. I am thinking of picking one up locally and the price seems right although it lacks a headshell and cartridge.

Very decent turntable. Especially if it was cheap. A good cartridge and a nice phono preamp, you are in business. It's nowhere near the top shelf, but not too shabby! Enjoy!Carl

Back in the 80's I owned the PF-800 and P3(?) linear tracking table, loved them both.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Thank you. I have heard good things about the Shure M97XE. A few others have mentioned it as well. I will check out the other ones you listed also. Thanks again.
