In need of some advice

Hello, let me start off by saying I am new to home theater. Ive only ever had cheap htib, so I'm very excited to get my new system up and running. I just bought a pair of monitor 70 for fronts, cs2 center and monitor 40 for surrounds. I just need some advice on a proper avr. My budget is around 400. I plan on getting a sub when finances allow, but maybe you guys could give me some good choices on those as well. Thank you.

Best Buy has the PSW110 on sale for $125 - from $250 - this week. This would probably be a very good sub for your setup if you can swing it now. Otherwise, if you're gonna get the sub later, I'd highly recommend a DSWPRO550wi when the time comes. Watch for them to go on sale at Newegg.com for $279-$299 (free shipping and no tax!) from $499. I think it's Polk's best bang-for-the-buck sub.

Gramm, welcome to Club Polk. The receiver that I'd suggest for your fine Polk speakers is the factory refurbished Onkyo 709 from ShopOnkyo. When you register for "Club Onkyo" you get the Club price now of $449 and a $10 credit, to make it $439, which includes shipping. Also, there's a 5% credit(about $22)which could be applied on a future purchase.
The 709 has more than sufficient maximum power capacity for all safe (to your hearing)listening levels with your speakers, and full features, notably the Audyssey MultEQ XT auto-calibration and room equalization system. Units refurbished by the Onkyo factory should be, if anything, even more likely than a brand new unit to be trouble free. -
I looked at that pro550 and it seems lilke a good deal. I know this is a Polk forum, and people on here are going to be biased towards Polk, but could you tell me why people on other forums like AVS talk so badly about Polk subs. It seems like people on other forums agree that Polk speakers are good, but subs are not. Based off their suggestions I was looking at Bic, Energy, or HSU. However the more I do my research, maybe I'll go for a Polk sub. They do get great reviews on sites like newegg. What would you suggest for a receiver for these speakers? Excuse my ignorance, I am still learning

That receiver looks like it would take care of all my needs and even has pre outs in case i ever wanted to get an amp. Why would you suggest a refurb over a new model? Also, Ive been reading a lot of posts about Onkyos reliability not being so good. Would you go Onkyo or Denon? If I went refurb, I would probably get the one you suggested or Denon 2312.
