Best direction to set up HT in basement

Alright folks...

Getting ready to set up my HT in the new house. I have attached a diagram of the basement layout. I know it's cluttered, but try to visually separate the blue from the orange.

If I set it up the 'blue' way, I'll probably need a bigger screen as the couch will be a greater distance from the screen.
Blue or orange, I'll probably have to run a mount from the drop ceiling for one of the surrounds.

I am open to any and all ideas, thoughts and suggestions.

Here are a few actual pics (not very good shots) from the listing when the other folks lived there.

Option orange would be where the fake fireplace, picture and tube tv are in the attached pic 1. The couch in the same pic is facing what would be option blue.

I like the blue configuration simply for the acoustical flow.

Audio-wise is there an advantage to long/skinny setup vs. short/wide?

I prefer the short and wide setup. Setting closer to the screen is a plus for me. Also the mains further from the adjoining walls is a plus help hinder early reflection that can improve stereo image. And the low hz are typically louder near the back wall where you will be sitting. But it is less accurate.

Stick with the blue configuration.
Orange, your surrounds are too wide unless you can squeeze them closer?
I'd still stick with the blue as you'll be able to utilize the space better but that's just me. You can't add anymore chairs to orange if you ever want to expand.

Don't rule out ceiling speakers for your rears and I like installing them in a Dynabox.

Polks have a 15 dergree pitch and could install the one tile outside the couch pitched direct at rear seating.

Not a bad idea. Looks like the RC60i and RC80i are the closest timbre match to the monitor line.

Would it sound weird to have tower fronts and in-ceiling surrounds?

I know that timbre matching isn't the end of the world, but I don't think they would be ideal for matching with the Monitors. Plus, I have the M30's as surrounds, but txcoastal has me thinking about the in-ceiling speakers. That would be ideal if they are effective and easy to install since there is a drop ceiling.

Anyone have experience with in-ceiling speakers for surrounds with regular speakers for front stage?
