Pioneer Elite SC Owners who use Video Processing

I have had my Pioneer Elite SC-35 for sometime now. Last night I got bored and messed with the Video Conversion for the first time. I did not touch any of the color settings. Just Contrast, Detail, Brightness and set everything to Upscale to 1080p.

It really made a huge difference on the image we get from direct TV. Contrast and Sharpness drastically improved and the picture is signifigantly smoother with less jitter, which doesn't make sense to me. I would think adding more processing in the mix would be a bad thing but as far as my experince goes the Picture looks fantastic!

Anyone else using the Pio Elites Marvell Qdeo video conversion?

If so which settings do you prefer?

Tommy - I thought the video is past through for HDMI in the Elites, or are you using component or other between your DTV box and the Elite? Or am I just confused?

I'm not sure about the SC-07, but the Sc-35 has a Video Coversion that also works on digital sources. If you choose to turn it on. You can have the Marvell Qdeo Chip agument the picture signal outputed via your Elite to your diplay with Various Settings. Such as Resolution up-conversion, Aspect ratio, Pcinema(Progresive scan) P Motion, YNR,CNR,BNR,MNR reduce noise of the various signal types, Detail (Sharpness), Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Chroma, Black level

I will have to play with my settings sometime. I guess I've never tried turning them on to see, I just let my TV handle all of it. Although, with it being professionally calibrated - I don't know that I would want to start messing with the settings too much (not that it can't be undone, but that are is one that someone else probably knows better than I do)

If you paid to have it calibrated I wouldnt mess with it.(except maybe the signal noise reduction and Mpeg compression reduction, that may help give a cleaner signal to your calibrated TV). Something that most Elite owners might not realize is the video conversion is defaulted to ON:eek: on every input even with everything zeroed out. If your a gamer it just adds one more piece in the signal path. My advice is on the input you use for Gaming turn it to OFF.

If you want cheap video processing that surpasses that in the Elites I would suggest the Darbee Darblet. Performs very well and makes the picture look amazing.
