It may be hard to understand. Those figures i came up with are not watt or anything.. Its overall Power that the amp has. Take any reciever and multiply the amps by watts to get an overall power capability. I was told by a professional car audio installer. All car stereos are rated at amps and watts. In home audio it may be hard to find out what the amps are. But that is how u figure out overall POWER!!!

Watts is already power... Your calc yields "watt-amperes" and it carries no meaning that I know of.

There is an amp spec called "High Current Capacity" (HCC), that when quoted is usually per channel. It is useful in determing an amp's ability to respond to impedance drops. Not all amps quote this, however, as the values are often quite low.

i appreciate the reassurance given by fellow polk members. I've gotten more people in the forum telling me that RTi8s will be fine with the AVR230 than people telling me that it's not gonna be strong enough. But let's change the scenario since I still have couple of weeks before my return policy is up to take back the AVR230s. Let's say i decide to really spoil myself this x-mas and get the RTi12s, CSi5x2, and FXi5. The spec of the RTi12s states that it can reach well below the 20hz. I was thinking i can save the money from the SVS PCi20-39 that i was planning on buying and invest it toward a higher end AVR/ preamp & amp combo that can drive the RTi12s fairly close to the max watt capibilities and at the same time not over pushing the CSi5s and FXi5s. I've seen alot of AVRS out there that can output over 200 watts of power by 5 or 7 channels easily by B&K and Sunfire. But the power can only be handled by the RTi12s (50watt-500watt). I'm sure some of you guys been thru what i'm going thru rite now and finally find a component or 2 that can harmonize this similiar setup. Is finding a good 2 channel amp the solution? Can i bi-amp the RTi12s using the AVR and the amp? Or would this 2 unequal sources of amplification cause the highs, mids, and lows coming out of the RTi12s to sound unbalanced? Man....sometimes i wish i didnt fall in love with the looks and voices of the Polks' new RTi series and just be happy with the Klipsch Reference 7 series, since those are alot more sensitive and any kinda decent receiver will make it sound REALLY REALLY sharp and clear. Any kind of recommendation for AVR/ preamp and amp solutions for the RTi setup that i stated above will be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellow Polk lovers.

For those that are interested in the proper way to calculate power (watts). You might want to get your calculators out and try this site.
