Need receiver for new speakers! Help me out please!

I have purchased Polk Audio speakers and was needing a receiver to push them. I talked to Crutchfield and they suggested the Denon AVR 1913, Onkyo NR606, or the Yamaha RX A720. I think these are all decent AVR's but was wanting to seek more advice from all you guys. I dont really want overkill, but I do want enough power to get the best out of these speakers that I can. My budget for AVR or (avr + amp) is no more than $800. Obviously the cheaper I can come out the better. Thanks everyone!
Older AVRs that are easy to set up that I can get cheaper are welcome as well. Doesnt have to be the newest models.Just something that I can depend on. Pretty new to the HT

Internet hookup

None of your Polk speakers requires an excessive amount ot power to run so any of those choices would be fine. If you go the Onkyo route, the 7XX receiver (the one above the 606) has pre-outs to add an external amplifier. This is a feature most would want to have even if they don't need it right now. You may someday.
I have no experience with either the Denon or the Yamaha receivers. Maybe others here can lend you their good advice.Fronts:B&W 804 Diamonds, Center: B&W HTM2 Diamond, Surrounds: PolkAudio LSi F/X (4)

When you settle on an AVR, check out NewEgg. Usually MUCH cheaper than Crutchfield.

Will do, I have bought from Crutchfield before and they were a higher. From my dealing with them, you cant beat the 24/7 trouble line and customer service. I will search elsewhere for a AVR though. -

Yes, that is Crutchfield's speciality. They charge list, but give free returns, exchanges, or money back with no hassles. Piece of mind is what you are really buying.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Chris, for an excellent receiver at a price well below your budget limit I'd suggest the factory refurbished Onkyo 709 at Accessories4less for about $450. This has more than sufficient maximum power capacity for all safe(to your hearing)listening levels. The "get the best out" concept is meaningless. This includes, among other features, Audyssey MultEQ XT auto-calibration and room equalization. A factory refurbished unit should be, if anything, even more likely to be trouble free than a brand-new one.

Thanks John, I will def. look into that. I found a Pioneer Elite VSX60 for $429 that I was looking at as well. The Onkyo is putting out 20wpc more than the Pioneer though. Thanks for the sugg. -
Welcome to Club Polk!
That Pioneer doesn't seem to "weigh" much at a little over 22 lbs and has no pre-outs. Pre-outs for all channels on the back of the receiver are important if and when you decide to upgrade your amplification at some future date (they allow you to continue to use the receiver as a pre-amp with more powerful power amps, and also help the resale value).
The Onkyo 709 has those. So do higher model Pioneers, etc. Personally, I like the way my Rti-A3s sound on Denons but you'd have to get a Denon with pre-outs and that would be something like a AVR 3311ci or newer 3313ci.

Chris, note that there's a 25% off sale until 12/16 at Shop Onkyo, which would make the net cost, with a $10 credit for registering for "Club Onkyo", about $364.

Depending where you are I got my AVR1712 from Video Only... Was a great deal... Read AVS forum to see what is difference... Very good information of Denon

For $50 more bucks I would go with the newer Onkyo TX-NR717 over the 709. Might as well get the most current reciever possible.

JB, the 717 has been downgraded in comparison to the 709 in a key aspect. The Audyssey MultEQ XT has been downgraded two steps to the 2EQ, which has far less powerful filters and, most importantly, doesn't equalize the sub channel, which is probably the frequency range most in need of room eq. This curious move on the part of Onkyo may have been to differentiate the 800 series more clearly from the 700s, but whatever the reason, although the 709 is a superb bargain which I've suggested several times, in my view the 717 shouldn't be seriously considered.

Also look at marantz SR6006. I have it and have been very pleased with its performance.
