Have been looking at Denon 3910s. They seem to go for $200 or so. Would like to have a better CDP in my office with the option to play SACDs.

I am currently using a crapsung BRP as a CDP.

What suggestions do you have I should research.

TIA,
Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)
Preamp: Joule Electra LA-150 MKII SE
Amp: Wright WPA 50-50 EAT KT88s

I remember answering this one before (not from you though). I really like my Sony SACD carosel unit. 50 bucks on ebay. Others have chimed in on the quality and reliability of Sony units vs cost.

+1. Also heard good things about the Denon's, but never heard one myself.

I own the Denon DVD-5910 and it is a very good sounding unit. I haven't checked out the used prices recently however. I have also heard the DVD-3910 and the 5910 is definately better and is easy to tell that it is. If you are interested in a Denon, I recommend the 5910.

    This.

The 105 is out and used 95s are popping up at fair prices and it was rated "A" by Stereophile for its SACD playback (if you read and believe in such things, of course )

If you can find a refurbished Sony SCD-CE595 on the Sonystyle website, grab it fast (they do appear occasionally and sell out fast). I have one in my bedroom system and it's a great player.

I have the Marantz SA8004 that I'm quite happy with.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I agree with this, but I didn't think you could find one in the $200 range.

I use a Pioneer Elite as my main transport. I think the results are very good.
The dac performance (analog out) is close to on par or better than with some external decoders I have tried.

Yeah, there are some folks on this forum who posted about that player and really liked it. Do a search to get some reviews from folks here. Rick88 really liked his.
