Hey everyone
I am in the process of building a house and I am going to install my first surround sound. I am sorda limited to what I want to do because of the wife. She doesnt want any big, bulky speakers so floor standings are out.
I have been reading reviews and ending up purchasing 4 RtiA3's for my FL, FR RSL, and RSR. A Csi A4 for center, DSW440 for the sub,and in ceiling TC80i's for SR and SL to complete my 7:1. I was going to use the A3's as SR and SL and in wall 65's as my RSR and RSL, but my wife doesnt want speakers out in the middle of the room on stands. I also have 2 small kids which love to tip things over just for the heck of it. So I had to go with in ceiling as my SL and SR.
It will be installed in a my living room, which is also joined with my dining and kitchen. Very, very open and vaulted ceiling at that. It is a 24x36 open room. The living room will be 24x18 and the kicthen and dining will take up the other half.
My question??
Will I be satisfied with that. Obviously, I know FS speakers like A5,7, or 9's or something would be better fit for my large room as well with A3's as my surrounds, but its just not gonna happen. I just had to go with what I was recommended by a few people with limited options I had and went with it. I have 60 days to return the speakers if you guys can think of something better I can do. Thanks
Also, my budget is around $1500 for speakers.

Welcome to CP!
I think that you will be very happy with your setup. What avr are you driving them with?
Your setup is great as is; the two things that you may want to look into is the csi A6 as the center and a little beefier sub, such as the dsw500 or 600. That sub will have a difficult time filling that space. But a larger center would take some pressure of the sub if you lower the crossover to say 60.
Either way, I think that you will be blown away with what you have. Enjoy!Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es
Game Room 5.1.4: Denon AVR-X4200w; Sony UBP-x700; Definitive Technology Power Monitor 900 mains, CLR-3000 center, StudioMonitor 350 surrounds, ProMonitor 800 atmos x4; Sub - Monoprice Monolith 15in THX Ultra
Bedroom 2.1 Harmon Kardon HK3490; Bluesounds Node N130; Polk RT25i; ACI Titan Subwoofer -
Thanks so much, well Im either getting the Denon AVR1913 or the Yamaha RX A720.
I was going to purchase the A6, but I figured it would overpower my A3's just a touch so thats why I went with the A4. If I was able to purchase FS speakers I was def. going with the A6. I am in a situation to where if I dont like the A4 I can get the A6 without a problem so I should be good there anyways.
On the sub, I completely agree with you, but I took advantage of Crutchfields $300 off on a sub with a $400 purchase. So I really only have $130 in the DSW440. Surely I can sell on Ebay for that if when I get it set up, want a little more punch.
Thank you though for the suggestions. Will def. be paying attention to the A4 and sub to see if it will be enough to fill the space. -
Do you think the Denon 1913 as well as the Yamaha A720 would be good choices for my set-up. Again, I'm new to all this and am not up to date on exactly how much wattage I will need to push these adequately.
If you can give me a top 3 in the $400-$700 range, that would be awesome.
Also, throw one out there in the $7-800 range if it is substanially better than the other 3. I just need something that will be a good reciever that will be plenty of power for the Polks. I dont want overkill.
I will use it for HT as well as music. Zone 2 is not that important, just a plus. 4 HDMI's will be good
Thanks. -
Have you considered wall mounting the A3's? They'll still be big, but anchoring them to the wall 5-6' high would eliminate the kid problem, and put them slightly out of the way.Polk Fronts: RTi A7's
Polk Center: CSi A6
Polk Surrounds: FXi A6's
Polk Rear Surround: RTi4

AVR: Yamaha RX-A2010

I will be building a custom entertainment center for the FR, FL and Center speakers as well as custom bookshelves for my RSR and RSL. My living room is open to the kitchen and dining so I do not have a wall on one side, thats why I have to go with in ceiling as my SR and SL.
