Just a feel good story from an era where integrity mattered.

Thanks for posting that, good stuff!Political Correctness'.........defined
"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

Interesting story, almost of the Hollywood variety? Old Hollywood that is. There is a scene slightly reminiscent of these sentiments in H.G. Wells' Things to Come (the film).

Excellant read. Just reminds that honor, respect, and dignity are something earned, and should never be expected.

From the article, "You follow the rules of war for you — not for your enemy. You fight by rules to keep your humanity.”
Sorry if this sounds political... but I cringe and get upset inside when I hear people wanting to torture the enemy. Whether it be the enemy of the state, or against someone who had committed a heinous and personal crime, we shouldn't seek for suffering in punishment. Why? It's because of the quote above. We are not barbarians, at least we shouldn't be. We should be more civilized. I am pro capital punishment, but it needs to be done in a manner not for revenge and nor in a way to inflict tremendous harm. To do otherwise we betray our own humanity. -

I have to disagree.
Capital punishment is always exacted for revenge. The victom may not be seeking it, but society, as a whole, is seeking it. I also believe that this form of justice is necessary, but as a deterrant, and in some cases a justified punishment. Simply put, one must be prepared to expect to face the consequences for ones own action
That is what the pilot understood. -
