Ready to pull the trigger ---HSU
Well I've finally narrowed it down on a subwoofer. Think I'm going for a HSU VTF-15H. I have the room for it so size is not a issue. Living up here in Canada, I'm a little limited to manufactures with shipping. Had my eye on Epic but they do not ship to Canada. HSU has gotting great reviews.
My question is I will be blending the 15h in with Polk LsiM speakers. Any input on matching these up would be great. I think they should sound great together, but really never know until I try it. Why I'm consernd is in the US they have a 30 return policy, but getting it shipped to Canada the return policy is void. They will not honor it.

I think it'll be a good fit for your polks. Nothing but great things have been said about hsu. Great sub and great company.

I love my older model. HSUs are known for being musical and easy to integrate esp. for the money. Of course any sub with a flat frequency response and low distortion and decent connection options should be easy to integrate. I have used mine with mini monitors, normal sized monitors, and my current in ceiling speakers, and crossed over between 60 and 120, and it continues to impress me. That subs a beast I can't imagine any disappointment. Go for it!Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Bedroom 2.1 Harmon Kardon HK3490; Bluesounds Node N130; Polk RT25i; ACI Titan Subwoofer -
My other option was SVS. They ship out of Ontario in Canada. I have heard good things about them as well but think im going to stick with the HSU 15. Think a 15 would dig deeper than a 13(SVS) and that's what I'm looking for as the sub will be used for 90% movies.

Can't go wrong either way, both make great subs and their CS stands behind their products. Congrats!

Both brands as mentioned are awesome and you will be happy either way.

I'll be puling the trigger on a HSU VTF-15H this coming Wednesday if I can't find some A9's in cherry on sale before then. I did a lot of research between it and the Power Sound XS30 and decided on the HSU.

I'm green with envy.... Enjoy!

Well I can split the bill with you if you like.lol
Yes I'm pretty pumped, can't wait! -
Damn just got an email back from SVS. I was quoted only $60 shipping for a SVS PC12-Plus Powered Cylinder sub. That puts both subs at around the same price. So ....... SVS or HSU? Decisions decisions!

I think they are both going to be about the same performance wise. IMHO I like the SVS better as its easier to move around, takes up less space floor wise so placement is a bit easier, however it looks like a big fuzzy waterheater if that matters any to you
The SVS cylinder will have less possibility of any cabinet resonance compared to the HSU which is why its soo much lighter (and therefore cheaper to ship). Something else to keep in mind is that since SVS's subs are all about the same woofer size they have offered upgrade options for both the woofer and plate amp for their older models subs as new stuff came out.
So the possibility to be able to upgrade your sub with either a new woofer or amp in the future is more likely with the SVS sub...

I'd take the bigger VTF-15 with the 15" woofer. It'll dig a little deeper than the pc12. It's a hsu VTF-15 near me for $700 but its local pickup only. Not a back deal.

I am leaning more towards the HSU. Something about that 15" driver has my attention.

I also want some A9's, and I can't believe I passed on yesterday's Newegg pricing of $500 each for some A9's. Oh well, next time!
I have the HSU VTF-2 MK4 and absolutely love it! Owning it over the past several months has just made me want to upgrade to the VTF-15H. You can't go wrong with HSU!AVR: Onkyo TX-NR808

IIRC they have some RTi A9's on Polks ebay site for the same price right now......"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

I understand, but please read your original post. "Had my eye on Epic, but they do not "shi#" to Canada."
Should explain my response. -
My bad. Miss read what you were saying.

Damn sucks... Epic's are so good

I have two HSU Sub's
A VTF2-MK3 for the main room and a STF-2 for the bedroom. Both are great. You can't go wrong with the VTF-15.When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

Well I hate to say it but we have a SVS dealer here in Canada. So I've decided to purchase a PC 12-plus instead. Only $60 shipping compared to $290 for the HSU. Think the SVS would be a better bang for my buck
-
Nothing to hate. You'll be in BASS heaven

For the SVS the only one I have ever listen to was the PB-13 ultra. For the $1400 usd the owner paid for it was worth it. My VTF2-MK3 does not even come close, well it kind of does but he did pay more than double than what I paid. With the HSU and SVS you get your money's worth hands down. My next sub will be a VTF-15. I am kind of lucky. I live in San Diego and my oldest goes to UC Irvine, I can just take a day off and drive up and take her to lunch and swing over to HSU and pick it up, cut the shipping cost out. When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. If I could knock the shipping out or down in cost I would would go with the 15H as well, but only $60 for shipping the SVS is just more worth it for me. Am also intrigued about the cylinder design on the SVS. -
The cylinder design is great. Small footprint and fairly light so it's easier to move around than most large subs. I've had aa 25-31PC+ in my rig for years. Love it!!
