Yes but the onk cannot go much below that. When I had one, it shut down trying to drive carver amazing that hit 1 ohm but 4 ohm is no prob. I had it running a set of vandersteen and polk 2.3's without any issues.

thanks to you both. i didn't think there would be a problem, but i'm trying to go thru a process of elimination as to what's going on since i connected to a hafler dh-101, and am having problems with the left channel (speaker) cutting in and out. it's driving me up a wall, and i don't want to damage any components. i posted a thread in "electronics" regarding the situation.
    thanks again.

I just recently picked up a pair of Polk RTA 12B's off CL and I am extremely happy with them. I just had a quick question however about power to drive them as well. I have a Technics SA-600 (70 wpc @ 8 ohm) and also a Sansui 5000A (55 wpc @ 8 ohm). I've had both hooked up to them and have been very happy with the results but am I still lacking some power to really drive these speakers? I know they can handle more, and if they did have more power would they sound even better?

    Thanks!
