Subwoofer settings

I have a Jensen JS1000 sub, it's a 8" 100 watt sub.....okay when you're done laughing I have a few questions. 1st off my system consists of a Marantz 6007 receiver, Polk RTi10 towers, CSi3 center, Polk RTi6's as surrounds, and the before mentioned sub. Also I am looking at new subs now. But until I get a new sub I still need to use the 1 I have. My question is the sub has 3 adjustments on back; level, crossover, and a phase switch. The crossover and level I understand but what should the phase switch be set at and what does it do? The switch only has 2 options 0 or 180.
Thanks for any help.

Sit in your preferred listening position. Play a CD with a steady deep bass line. Have a friend flip the phase switch back and forth. The correct position is the one that yields the most bass, simple as that. If you can't tell a difference, leave it at 0.My humble setup...

Ok thanks I'll give it a try. I tried this by myself but didn't to listen while someone operates the switch.

Usually if your sub is on the same "plane" as your main speakers, phase should be at 0 degrees. But GAGuy is right on varifying. Phase adjustment basically "synchronizes" the subs woofer movement with the main speakers woofer movement. Phase will sometimes have to be adjusted from 0 when your sub is shooting perpendicular into the room w/respect to your mains, OR when your sub is in the opposite (across the room) corner.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2
