So I have the stock deck in my subi right now and its fine, but I would like to get a sound quality piece.

Going thru all the current head units and they all look like trash!

I may have to fork over the dough for a double din.....

Anyone have any suggestions?

Headunits have been getting pretty flashy for a while now. I just keep using the older gear.

The new Pio P80 is a good hu for around $300-350. It's basically a relaunch of the older 800/880 series.

I agree, headunits today remind me of crappy mini-systems. All funky plastic and obnoxious lights. Seems the notion of putting a new stereo in a car and having it look like it belongs there is lost. One of the reasons I've not really looked for a replacement for my ancient Sony ES headunit.

I have seen people replace the LEDs in a HU to get it to match the lighting in their car. That might be something to consider if you're good at soldering. Will make it look slightly less obnoxious.

Any features in particular you're looking for? Most additions these days can be done through the stock system which I prefer as it keeps the stock look.

The only things I would install is a double-din touch screen as it looks very clean with no big buttons or flashy lights.

there are plenty of nice double dins that look classy. I have a nice car with black leather and a class interior, i dont need a ton of lit up plastic. That pioneer is alright..... some of the sony and jvc units look nicer than a lot.

I might go back to the same style kenwood i had before.

obtaining a level signal from the stock unit is annoying. I have an MS8, but even then... Maybe ill try and find an older eclipse unit with good 7v preouts.
