computer question

i'm running windows, xp i think..computer is 1 yr old...anyway: i have an external hard drive i'd like to back up to my internal c drive...the software for the ext hd seem to favor backing up the c drive with the external drive...is there a way this computer dummy can back up my external drive?

    There are a couple of ways to do it. The easiest would be to simply create a folder on your C: drive, name it such as "ext backup". Then, open windows explorer, select all the files/folders from your external drive that you wish to back up, click copy (edit>copy), then right-click on the folder you created on C: and select "paste".

    Another way would be to use backup software to do it. That would be more complicated, but would allow you to compress the backed-up files so they take up less space on your c: drive.
