I am sad to report that CDepot one of my favorite used media outlets is going out of business, that is the bad news.
The good news is that the entire store is 25% off. I picked up quite a haul today and would have bought more but I forgot my list. Anyway, they will be open until sometime in January. For those that haven't been there, they are at the intersection of Joppa Road and Loch Raven Blvd. They have a large selection of CD's, DVD's and some vinyl. Just wanted to let you all know in time for your holiday shopping. I will be sorry to see them go. Cheers.

Good to know. I will have to make a list and head up there.

How far is that from the Christmas light block and Cafe Hon ?? I might have to plan a mixed trip to Balmer !
-
That really sucks. Looks like Record and Tape Traders is going to be the only game in town for used stuff. Thanks for the heads up on the sale.
PS: Anyone been to the new record store on Harford Rd between Taylor Ave and the beltway?Wristwatch--->Crisco -
Another one bites the dust. :frown:

Dang, that's a shame, my wife and I have bought quite a bit of good sounding music there, especially in their "behind the counter" vinyl section. I wonder if the store in college park is folding? They've got lots of vinyl there, especially classical/opera.

:-(
Joppa Road and Loch Raven Blvd... Just a hoot 'n' a holler from my high school (there are two schools today that meet that criterion). In those long-ago, halcyon days, there was a Heathkit store very close to that corner (on Joppa Road, a little further on towards Bob Davidson Ford) :-) -
Ah, yes, the old Heathkit store is now an Easter Lock shop and is around the corner from CD Depot and across the street is Conrad's seafood store that has good tasting salmon. Also Baynesville Electronics is down Joppa Road a bit, they've been there for many years.

Yep, I like that store as well. I would usually hit both of them when I was out that way. Sad to see another music store die. -

Ken - You forgot to mention that we now have a Hooters nearby. If that is not your cup of tea there is Patore's Italian deli across from CDepot, home of the sub that they call "The Gonzo". And lastly for the musician's, Guitar Center is just up the street. -
He he, not to mention the La Z Boy store, hon. This is Bawlimer's "Rodeo Drive"!
-
Also the scrambled eggs at the Bel-Loc diner are the best I've ever had. One Sunday morning my wife and I went there for breakfast and, at the time, I was reading about the civil war. On a whim we hopped back in the car and drove to Antietam National battlefield. Very vivid day in my memory.

Since we're talking all hi falooting, isn't there a place down Loch Raven that has killer shrimp salad? Jerry D's maybe?Wristwatch--->Crisco

Yes, there is, I haven't been there in years! Thanks for reminding me. There used to be a really good Mexican place in the same area. Not too far away is the Cracked Pot, a great place for all things crab.

Youse guyses are making me feel all nostalgic :-)
Is the farm stand/fruit market (Harold's???) still on Joppa Road.
When I was in grad school, Mrs. H and I lived in an early-1950s era row house on Sherwood Ave (in the city, but barely) between Loch Raven & The Alameda. The strip of Loch Raven from the city line up to the Beltway was basically where we shopped and ate out (on those occasions when we spent a few bucks at Roy Rogers, or Rustler's - remember that chain? - or the aforementioned Crack Pot)...
EDIT: and, of course we shopped at the Grunt (Giant) in that same shopping plaza... -
I'm afraid Harold's is gone, torn down. The Salvation Army thrift store beside where it was is still there, but the fruit market is an empty lot now. Just down Joppa Road is a pretty good Indian restaurant with a nice buffet.

Jerry D's is on Harford Road not too far from Linway Lounge which also has killer shrimp salad. Jerry D's makes really good Maryland crab soup as well. -
Jerry D's? Is that near Harford & Cub Hill Rds?

Jerry D's is at Harford Rd and Taylor Avenue. There was a bar / restaurant at Harford and Cub Hill which was Bill Bateman's (wings) but is no longer there - demolished. Cheers. -
Yeah, that is the place I was thinking of.
