Parked the CRS+'s in the basement, sold the 2B's and am in total awe with these babies. The seller is a member here but according to him, not too active. He said there were mint and it was no lie. Original boxes and packing materials made this shipping a breeze. Unharmed in any way and I can't get over the sound. I guess it has a lot to do with the just right size for the room, as this is the 3rd SDA set I have tried. Liked them all, but love these. The original owner didn't play them much and that is apparent. I will enjoy the original tweeters for a while as I really love the sound. That and no hurry to spend another $180.00 to make that change.

Congratulations again Johnny have fun with set number three.

Nice!
They are in great condition. Even corners are not dinged.
Looks like 1B's are CRS+ added to 2B's except one PR.

Johnny if you ever decide to part with your CRS+'s let me know "....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)

When you get around to rebuilding the crossovers, and adding RD0-198s, you'll be in awe all over again.

Are 1B's significantly better than 2B's?

Is there a Xover mod that allows 1B's to take the 198 tweeter? I know the 2B's can, but don't recall hearing this about the 1B.
I do know that the 1C's can only take the 194 when modded; I suspect the same is true of the 1B?Jay

Congrats on the 1Bs? Now could someone explain why they look exactly like a version of the 1Cs? Is the difference "inside"?
Thanks!
That said. 1Cs hit lower and harder than 2Bs. Knowing T-Johnny's love of BASS, and volume, we shouldn't be "surprised" he likes these more than the 2Bs. That's part of what a larger SDA does!

Top-jon, you might want to check with your doc about a possible increase in your Ritalin dose. I think your ADHD is flaring up a bit.
First, you got the 2Bs and were in another world. They were in terrific condition, sounded better than should be legal and blah, blah, had your bedroom rockin', blah. Then, you had "just the right pair" of CRSs - I think that was the word three times over. You did finally find the pair of CRSs that was "perfect" for you. You hooked them up in the same bedroom setup with the 2Bs and reported that you were in a whole new audio heaven. F1 reprimanded you for thinking that that setup could even sound tolerable and you quickly agreed. Most recently, you got a wild hair lodged in a certain **** and it told you that the 1Bs are the route and you get a pair on their way, site unseen and ears unheard, pronto! And prior to even receiving the 1Bs, you sold the 2Bs - and dumped the CRSs in the basement(?). Now, you're in awe of the 1Bs and just love them and blah, blah, the bedroom is rockin' like never before, blah!!!!
Wee....this is fun! I'm already excited about the 2.3TLs you'll have on their way to your house next week...
It does sound like you're havin' fun, though, so carry on and do keep posting. Also, the 1Bs do look to be pretty minty! -

The details are here--the first half of the thread is unimportant, the second half is golden:

What can I say? I'm biased as all get-out--but--I think the 1B is severely under-rated around here. Its only real drawback is the inability to accept an AI-1; although the 4 ohm nominal impedance will make crappy amps wet the bed particularly when the volume goes up. -

Oh teekietripple0seven (my favorite secret agent) you are so right. This new speaker hobby has had me all over the map, and not to worry, no 2.3's in my future. Getting the 1B's up into the bedroom was a killer enough! I will call my Doc today and schedule an appointment for and increase in meds. You reply had me peeing my pants reading that reply, and put me in a great mood this morning. Thanks and sometimes you have to try different things until you find the one that you really like. I know I am nutty, and so does the wife, can't believe she's put up with me for almost 30 years now."if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

Short and Sweet. The 2B's were great, (just not enough Oomph), the CRS+'s were a mini version of the 2B's, liked them both, just neither of them are as fat and musical as the SDA 1B's. I'm no techie, just know what I like! Sorry I called it a review TennMan"if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

ReportedGood music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.
