Oh No My Speaker!

Had the carpet cleaner guy at the house on Saturday. Didn't notice until he left but he must have hit my speaker with his vacuum thing. Nothing broke of off it but the is separation on the base of my Rti70. No one can see it but me of course, but you can definitely feel it. I was wondering if there was some way to repair the the light spot. It is as if the wood has separated just a bit. I hate the thought of this, but could I take a black sharpie and just color the light part of the wood black? Has this happened to anyone? I just thought I would rant. At least they still sound the same.

It is driving me crazy. From my listening position, I can see it out of the corner of my eye taunting me. Unfortunately, I have yet to purchase a digital camera. The ht bug hit me first. It isn't big at all, about the size of a dime, or smaller. BIG enough though. No one will ever know it is there except me probably. I just wonder, what if I ever want to get rid of them, you know?

I feel your pain bgaskins, I had my brother's family over last weekend and my 2 year old niece accidentally swung her toy  and hit the wood in the front part of my left tower. I love her dearly that I could not show how her that I was a little bit mad. I aggree with Airplay, sharpie would work fine. I see it every time I sit in front of it, oh well, I guess, that's something we can not avoid.

Glenn, did you try the sharpie yourself? I think I am going to give it a shot. I guess that is just a part of owning something. Makes you want to take your rig, leave your friends and family behind and become and "ht hermit"

I have used a sharpie marker on alot of things, works fine. Go with it, my RT5 looks almost mint now because of a sharpie marker :D

You know, you can goto Home Depot or Lowes and pick up a plethora of different products to fill in dings, blemishes and other marks and scuffs to finished wood. I personally prefer the wax based ones to the markers and such that are meant to merely stain the ding. The wax based ones fill in the ding and usually match the wood coloring better than the markers.

Oh yeah, all these things cost about the same as a 3 pack of colored Sharpies.

:) I like that vmstyler, must have used a dozen of sharpies for the RT5:D . Yes Bgaskins, I had to do it myself:rolleyes:, I figured that that was not going to be the last so I might as well practice now and perfect it the next time(I hope there no more next time):(

Nah, the bottum of the speakers had marks on them - and since I was laying the RT5 on their sides for shelving, I took a sharpie and cleaned them up. From up around the ceiling and such, it blends perfectly. I also have used it on my RTi70 and the sharpie marker color blends nicely with the RTi70 finish. Can't really tell it was used on the finish at all.
