Is it me, or does there just seem like there's something wrong with having the surviving members of Led Zeppelin all tux'ed up being honored by the President of the United States?
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I dunno, it just seems too "establishment" for Zep. When I think about Led Zeppelin I want to think of this:

    Not this:

It is weird seeing that photo with Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Buddy Guy together. There is something not right about it.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

They were only on for an interview, they didn't play.

Top Ten reasons why Led Zeppelin didn't play on the Late Show.

    10. Stupid pet tricks ran longer than usual.

    9. Had to add another commercial to help pay the bills.

    8. Page and Plant were trashed.

    7. Paul refused to play with geriatric patients.

    6. Robert's hair was a mess.

    5. Jimmy forgot where he was.

    4. Bonzo called, "give it up mates".

    3. Robert had the "walking farts".

    2. See #5.

And the number one reason Led Zeppelin didn't play on the Late Show.......

    1. Dave doesn't allow lip-syncing on his show.

Seeing them shmoozing with presidents just seems completely odd. To me, Led Zeppelin represents counter-culture. Bowties and presidents just seems to run contrary to that. I'm not saying they're not deserving of being honored, quite the contrary, they're one of my favorite bands of all time. But these images just seem contrary to what Led Zeppelin was.

Come on, too "establishment"? When a country respect you enough to honor you for your artistic achievements and cultural impacts, you return that respect.

On the other hand, Jack Black again? Geez, didn't he already honored The Who at the Kennedy Honors several years ago?

Yeah, I know. I'm not saying that they shouldn't have done it. I'm just saying it seems a little strange to see them like that. It's just weird to be thinking of Led Zeppelin in terms of their cultural achievements, when they were really very counter-culture when they were doing their thing.

Was being the operative word. Everyone has to grow up sooner or later. It's nice to see they all have lived long enough to receive this honor.
