Picked up some early SDA-1s

I picked up a pair of early SDA-1s in excellent condition with interconnect cable for what seemed a very reasonable price($200).

They sound as if they could use new capacitors. My past experience with the SL1000/2000 has left me with a less than favorable opinion of them. So new caps and four new tweeters is probably going to run more than the speakers themselves. During my research it seems that these maybe aren't worth the trouble.

Any advice from the experts as to what level these should be rehabilitated, if at all?

I believe on these earliest versions the two top drivers were in separate ported chambers. Only the two bottom drivers are coupled with the passive radiator.

Looking at that sda connector port I'd definately say those are 1st generation SDA1.

Looks like I might have asked this in the wrong place?

I've found the info regarding modifying the SDA-1 to a SDA-1A. Has anyone here actually undertaken this procedure and if so what
    did you think?

    correct
the tweeters may sound better when XO upgrades are done. To put new rdo-194's in there is hairy. The bottom of the tweeter will rest on th top of the top drivers and you will need to route out a better hole to line the quick connects to keep them from being smashed against to magnet.
I have SDA1 signature's. They do not have the inner cabinet and 1" dowel rods glued in the ports and a brass plaque over the holes.
I also have the SL1000 tweeters so one of these days I'll do the routing and tweeter brackets but it will be so close to the top of cabinet and top of top driver basket. I bet the SDA1a's moved the drivers down a little closer to the passive to help the tweeters fit better.

Thanks for the response, I think I'm going to hunt down an SL1000 (one is dead) and give them a listen in stock form before making any more decision. Early impressions are favorable!
