Just ordered a set of Martin Logan Montis speakers! I have been giving them,a set of ML Ethos, and a set of Dali Helicon 800's a good test ride, for several hours at Sound World in Appleton. The manager has a large "highend" room upstairs, and he let me bring my Amp,and drove them with a Jolida Fusion tube pre,and a Cary pre. I've been there twice to listen, and have had an absolute blast! Upstairs is reserved for all things high end. He typically keeps 3 sets of speakers upstairs,ML Montis,The Dali's,and a absolutely stuuning set of KEF 207/2's! The KEF's are the biggest(not tallest) speakers i've ever seen! A Cary CD player,as well as Cary Amp,and pre,and all Analysis Plus cables! All speakers blew me away, but I have been drawn to the ML's for a few months! So airy, and live! Its like it's Flippin real!! I put the Montis, and Ethos side by each, and couldn't tell the differnce in soundstage or detail when u were in the sweet spot, but did notice an improvement in off axis performance with the Montis! The Montis had a slight edge in Bass response as well! I didn't want to afford the Cary pre,so I had a listen to the Jolida Fusion pre,and was very impressed! So i'm gonna pair the Jolida Fusion pre with my B&K 2220,with some Analysis Oval 12 speaker cables. This guy gave me a hell of a package deal on this stuff, and I cant wait til Friday when I can pick it all up! Love this hobby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheesygrin:

Wow, that's awesome! I'm actually relieved to hear that you didn't have to dump them for what you almost did. Those KEF's are beautiful speakers.

The salesperson called today and said the ML will be a couple weeks out in the finish I ordered:frown:So i'll have a long 2 week wait!

Can anyone chime in on a decent AV rack? I'm lookin for a 3 or 4 rack thats decent quality, and wont hurt the pocketbook so much!
Everything i've looked at so far is $300 bones or more!

Bob: Given your DIY skills I would suggest a "Flexy" rack. You can DIY it yourself and it can be configured to your needs regarding height, width, ect. Doesnt require much in the way of tools to make and you can go as cheap or expensive as you want on the materials. They are really nice as you can constantly change the height of it to fit your needs as your gear changes.

I have seen some really nice ones out there.

VTI racks are nice. However right around 300 bucks. Congrats and its a fun room upstairs ain't it? Last time I was there it was Parasound Halo with ML speakers and not really much else at that time but it was the summer.

If you are ever in the area of Appleton again let me know and maybe we could meet up and go listen together! Congrats on the speakers and everything you got! They are some decent guys to work with.
