Fully Assembled 800VA Dreadnaught in Larry's case

I am selling the 800VA Dreadnaught that I built earlier this year. I've upgraded to the 1000VA transformer, so the 800VA is no longer needed. I considered just buying the new transformer and swapping it with the original, and then selling the transformer. However, I decided to build a completely new one and sell the original as a fully assembled unit, so that people who aren't very brave in the DIY department would have access to one without having to build anything. So I purchased a new case from Larry and new binding posts and built a completely new one, so now the original is for sale all ready for use.

It's built with the Avel Lindberg Y236906 isolation transformer, Larry's case, brass spikes from Meniscus Audio, and binding posts that I'm fairly certain are Vampires. The transformer sells for about $125, the binding posts are about $50 for two assemblies, and Larry charges $80 for the case, and the spikes were only about $10. Throw in some dynamat that I used, and we're at about $270 worth of parts.

I'm offering this for $250. Shipping will be $16.20 in CONUS, as it will fit in a Priority Mail Flat Rate box ($15.45) plus delivery confirmation. As heavy as this transformer is, flat rate is definitely the way to ship. Payment would be Paypal as gift.

I am going to put some rigid styrofoam inside the case, to support the weight of the transformer in case the box gets handled upside down during transit. I don't want to take any chances on the weight of the transformer damaging the case during shipping. So upon receipt, you'll remove the cover with a 3/32 allen wrench, remove the foam, and replace the cover.

Hopefully this sale makes some SDA owner out there very happy. As I said, I could have just swapped out the transformers, but I figured there are probably a lot of people out there who would prefer to have an already assembled Dreadnaught made available!

PM me with interest.

Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

An important point about these AI-1's is that they improve the sound of common ground amps too. In my experience it adds clarity, improved bass, and makes the soundstage a little more three dimensional - wider and deeper front to back.

That's been drilled into my head. . How would it be connected to a non-Polk system (i.e. my bi wired sprkrs) Does phase inverting pre-amp make a diff??

Not sure it would/could do anything in a non Polk system. IT's designed to isolate the SDA signal from the opposite channel ground (I think ). The SDA cable from each speaker is connected to one set of windings.

Glad it arrived well safely. You got the second package with the spikes? You took the styrofoam out of the inside of the Dreadnaught?

It doesn't need a power cord. The top of the case is actually a solar panel. So what you need to do is put a high powered UV lamp over it. That should do the trick!
