Mounting Monitor CS1 as Surround Center

I want to try out a 6.1 setup, as it seems more Blu-Rays are in 6.1 than 7.1. Right now I have Monitor60s as fronts, CS2 as center, Monitor 30s as surrounds, and using a surround center just seems impractical unless you have a large open room. Right now my two ideas are a hanging bookshelf or to use two speaker stands in order to mount it above the couch. If it is going to be mounted on a wall, instead of using a bookshelf, would it be worth it to use a custom mount so the speakers angles towards the listening position?

Also, would anyone have a quick recommendation on a crossover setting for a 12" sub with this setup without getting into too much detail? Right now it's set around 60.

I did just that in my work-out room. I mounted cs2's up in the corner of the ceiling/wall junction and they look down at you at about 30 degrees. They are mounted on two heavy duty steel brackets that I bent up from some right angle brackets, require mounting into a stud or a plywood reinforcement behind the drywall, or maybe on the finished side of the room as long as the plywood bridges two studs. mollies will not do for this. I must say they look a little intimidating if you look up at them while working out. I will try to post some photos as soon as I figure out how do post photos. Mike

    Welcome to the CP.

I've heard of quite a few guys using a center as a rear surround. Maybe another CS2? But if your AVR will support 7.1, why not go there. My AVR will take a 5.1 audio track and turn it into a 7.1 and the magic is undetected, the sound is seamless. But sure, a center as a rear can work.

Maybe set your sub xo in the AVR to 120. My 2 empires set to 120, mains wides and center set at 40hz and side surrounds set at 60. With the sub set at 120, it creates a better blend between the speakers IMO.
