Upgrading caps.
Okay I had searched the old threads on this upgrade, read the schematic, seen the other members pics, looked easy enough. Ordered my caps before I took my crossover out. And low and behold my crossover board is unlike any of the pics that I've seen, my electrolytic caps are standing on end. Can I drill new holes in the board? Or do i just extend all of the leads on the caps and glue them on vertically?

thank you in advance for any advice

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

I'm assuming that your new caps have leads coming one out of each end. Are the leads long enough that one of them can reach the circuit board reaching around the whole cap? I see that the resistors are wired that way in the current crossover. If the leads aren't long enough, you could run the leads into the board and mount the cap horizontally as close as possible and use hot glue or double sided tape to keep it in place. The cap does not need to fit perfectly above the board - it just has to be stable and the final shape must fit through the hole in the back of the speaker enclosure.

    Hope this helps.

When you get your caps you may find that the leads are long enough to lay them on their sides rather than placing vertically. Either way works.

I find that with Sonicaps the leads are quite long and I always cut at least an inch or two after soldering. The same with Mills resistors.
