POLK LSi's and OUTLAW amp
My current setup is a POLK LSi25s for fronts, LSiC for Center, LSiFXs for surrounds, and a Velodyne DD15 for sub. This is powered by an HK AVR7200. However, I am noticing that my receiver is shutting off a lot and I am within my 30 day return on the receiver so I was going to return it and get a HK AVR430 (lower-line HK receiver) and use it as a preamp. I would then go purchase a Outlaw 755 amp. This amp puts out 300 per channel at 4ohms. Does anyone have any experience with these amps? My concern is that it doesnt have anti-clipping circuitry. I am not sure how important this feature is, but i do not want to damage my expensive speakers. Is there something i should purchase to put in between the amp and the speakers that will prevent damage from occuring? Also any suggestions are welcome and if anyone has an Outlaw amp powering their Polk's especially a 755 how does it sound? I have seen a lot of good reviews at other sites, but not specifically from Polk owners. By the way i get a discount on the HK which is why i am going to get that and use it as a preamp. Also the reason i like the Outlaw is the price at 1300 its far cheaper than anything that I have seen so far that is rated at 4ohms and although not rated to 2 ohms can handle a lower load if needed more than the HK could.
Thanks for all the help.

Welcome to the forum!
Well I don't have any experience with the 755 I do own a 7100 and am very pleased with the performance. It is a very neutral amp and powers my Lsi's beautifully.
You do not need to add anything inline to your system. Having the extra power available is a good thing. As I sure your aware, you can do a lot more damage by not having enough power than by having too much. Believe me, your ears are not going to let you turn the volume up to the point that the speakers start to clip. Your ears will bleed and your eyeballs will rattle long before you clip the speakers.
As for using a receiver as a preamp, sure you can do it, but why would you want to at this point. What I mean is, if you are going to buy a seperate amp already, why buy a receiver and only use half of it? I would recommend making the jump to seperates completly. There are quite a few preamps on the market that can meet or exceed whatever processing needs you may have. Prices are going to start at under $1k and go steadily higher from there.
Hope this helps. -

maybe try looking at used look for a dd 5.1 pre and a nice amp used. look at rotle, adcom, and b&k just to name a few.

I have the Outlaw 770.
I am not concerned about clipping. The SPL is too high and hurts the ears and i'm only at 75% of the total power.
Its a keeper IMO.
