I can't remember the model of Polk's I had, it was around 1988, I'm thinking. They were SDA's, that much I remember. I think the configuration was this:

1ea tweeter
4ea 4" midranges
1ea 10" (I think) woofer

What model were these?

I've never seen a Polk with a 4" woof (other than a couple centers).

How were the drivers laid out?

    Steve,

There isn't a SDA speaker with that layout.

Isn't "SDA" when a signal from each channel is sent to each opposite speaker? I remember that mine were like this. That monitor 12 looks right except for the woofer, I thought I remembered the woofer looking almost like a passive woofer---with the flat front? Man I'm gettin old...

Yep, that's the basic's of SDA technology and they all use a passive radiator. The problem here is it would most likely be either 2 tweeters and 4 mids or 1 tweeter and 2 mids. Also the only SDA with a 10" PR was the CRS or CRS+, but they are bookshelf sized speakers.

SDA-1C must be it, these were no bookshelf speakers, they were big. Cool, now I can sleep tonight.

If I'm not mistaken doesn't the SDA1C have 2 tweeters in each cabinet?

    Steve,

    1 Tweeter
    4 Mids
    1 Passive Radiator

I remember that one! It was the first Polk I dreamed to own but never could afford! It may be SDA-1A? I'm not sure ... It's been awhile! I did eventually get successor (SDA-SRS 3.1tl) years later, when above had been discontinued. The 3.1tl's have 5 mids. Good Luck!

No configuration exists in SDA as far as I know....now.

Ken Swauger? Perhaps you could solidify this for us?

    correct of course...

just seems challenging to have one driver producing a signal and the 180 deg opposite from the other channel...

then again carver's sh does this with all drivers, not just tweets...
