Polk speaker line-up

Hi folks, I seem to find lots of conflicting information online (including some threads on this forum) regarding the progression of speaker lines in the polk stable.

Can you please clarify which line is a step up in terms of quality (components, cabinets etc) vs the other? I "believe" that the RTi line is better than the Monitor line, but I would like to confirm that is true and that these speakers are not merely different iterations of the same thing.

Currently undecided between the Monitor 70s and the Rti8s. Quality is more important to me than quantity, to would choose the speaker which is better built/designed over the speaker with x speakers.

Thanks!

What is the difference between the RTI and RTI A? I see the RTI on the Polk ebay page and the prices are much lower than the RTI A series

RT/RTi stands for Reference Theatre improved. "A" is a step above the previous RT/RTi lines.

The obvious diffs are the RTi A series sexier, more rigid cabinets. Unseen: different XO freqs, & components; same tweets.

Some members report the "A" series more accurate, a smidgid less edgy.
