Surround Centers

I know there's no comparison between the two centers, but at one time, I had a CS175 in a bedroom and I was always impressed with the sound for such a small center. So in transitioning from my previous Altec-Lansing and JBL setup, I used it for a while with the Monitor 7s in my HT setup.
But when I swapped it out for the CS400, I was amazed at how much the entire system changed. I expected to hear the difference in the center, but it's like all the speakers improved. To get the same sound levels, I have the AVR set much lower than with the 175 or the 150 that I also tried out.
Anyway, my question is, has anyone used center channel speakers for their surround speakers? I was just curious how it might work to use two CS175's instead of the RT35i's that I currently have. Seems like they might be better matched to the Monitor 7's and CS400.
Dumb idea, probably, but just wondered if anyone else tried something like this.
