I currently own a Adcom 5802 and am very pleased with the performance. Would going to a Bryston 4b-st be an impovement in sound? Would it give a warmer sound than the adcom?

If I didn't hear them back to back I am unsure I could tell the difference between the two. It is difficult to really give a comparison without hearing the two in the same place, in the same system, in the same timeframe. I have a feeling The Bryston would be a tad rounder/warmer, but that is strictly conjecture.design is where science and art break even.

+1 on what newrival said. Without going back-to-back it's pretty hard to say which you'd like, but I certain prefer the Bryston sound, and you'll probably still have 10 years warranty on any ST series Bryston that you buy.
Also note that the power ratings on Brystons are very conservative- they test each one individually and most 4b's are actually 25-50 watts higher than advertised. Plus they use a tighter spec on distortion for when they do the power testing 0.005% (I think adcom does .1%?) Point being that you're probably GAINING a little power going to the Bryston, even if the advertised wattage is lower.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

UNLESS you are using with SDAs. Bryston is not common ground.
Bryston 4b-st's are common ground as are 2b, 3b, 5b, 8b, 6b and 9b. You will have to strap the grounds, but otherwise you're good. 7b, 14b and 28b are NOT common ground. Actually, use some caution with older 6b's. There the one that's a three channel modular version of the 4b (which is common ground), and there's also this weird one that they did briefly and I can't recall what the deal was with it.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

I would use them for my lsi 15sThat original short lived 6B was a mono bloc and the predecessor to the 7B .It had the swithable series or parallel operation carried over to the pre SST 7B.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

But this does have me wondering if the 7b in parallel mode has the negative terminal at ground.
