looking to buy a budget set-up

so my girl loves coming and listening to music, but we want to have something to listen at her place too, the local big box store carries the polk r300 and m10 for entry level speakers, also looking to buy an inexpensive receiver such as a yamaha or sony lower end model, will also buy a cs10 center and use my sony books for her surround as it will have 5.1 for movies, should i opt for the m10 over the r300, she does have the space for the tower,

The Monitor 40s are awesome speakers for the price. For $169 bucks you get two. I would do four of them. They sound great with any amp. I used a Pioneer VSX521k and a Rotel RMB1076 and a Bryston amp to power them. All sounded great.

Here I just removed two of the drivers. They are shielded and beefy. I wish the tweeters had more to them though.

FPO in sicily, neww egg wants 70 dollars shipping for one pair, and i have a yamaha rx-v371 i might give her if i dont sell it, im looking to spend 400 more on polk, as i want the free sub and already have 100 spent so far, fry's had the csi3 for 99 on friday, even with the 58 for shipping its the best price i could get,the local store also has the tsi 100 and i think the rti a-4 and tsi-200, anything above the r300 and m10 are way expensive, and this isnt going to be a fancy system, just listen to mp3 with her iphone from a 3.5 or watch dvd's, she doesnt have high quality source, njust need a basic but reliable set

TSI 200 and a CS10 center would be fine. What is an Rti A4? Do you mean an Rti-4?

Two Rti-4s with a CSi3 and a sub would be a nice starter system for HT. Either of these would be good. The 200s will reach a bit lower than the other speakers. But the Rti series will have a more "detailed" tweeter.

I would imagine that you should be able to listen to both of these systems on the appropriate receivers. Personally, I like warmer AVRs with Polks, so that means Denon, Marantz, Harman Kardon. The lower level Yamahas tend to be a bit bright.

Probably could use a nice small sub with the above to fill out the low end?

thanks, yes i meant rti-4, and unless i can pick those up used or on a good sale, its more than im looking to spend and more than she wants, honestly she wants a mini hi-fi set, you know one of those crappy stereo speaker sets that combined weigh like half a pound,as it is she loves my sony speakers i have, thats why i was looking to get r300 and m10 speakers for her as well as a csi10 center, because i can pick up all 5 for about 380 euro, and that will be over 499$ which will get her a free sub
