If you like them that is all that matters. Most CV speakers I have ever listened to had really boomy flabby bass. That is just my opinion though.--Gary--

I mostly listen to jazz, blues, classical and latin music. The reason I am not satisfied with my present speakers is that they don't give the bass response that I like. Any suggestions on my choices would be appreciated.
I think dawgfish has it right, for your amps i'd try something vintage, and try something else vintage, and try something else vintage again, and on and on.... Polk Monitor 10s with peerless tweets, Large Advent U series (U3 for example), Dynaco A-50s (if you can find a pair), Wharfedale W70s or W90s. You'd be surprised the kind of bass response you get with Polk Monitor 10s with the right placement.
When I'm listening to Jazz the critical thing for me in regards to bass response is how close the speakers come to reproducing the sound of the stand up bass. If the speakers are able to reproduce "analog" unamplified musical instruments realistically then i'm getting close.
Much of the music you hear is engineered in the recording studio and already altered on the mixing board.... For music that i s electronically amplified, i.e., the electric bass and you like that kick then those Cerwin Vega's just might be what you're looking for

Regarding the CV's.....what may sound good at first will be the first thing that starts to annoy you after some time spent listening.
Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

I agree if they are in the right room. In my listening room (16x28 with vaulted ceilings) the bass on the 10's is not all that impressive. I moved them to my guitar room (12x14) and the bass really came alive. When I'm listening to Jazz the critical thing for me in regards to bass response is how close the speakers come to reproducing the sound of the stand up bass. I totally agree. My Infinity RSIIIa's do this very well.--Gary--
