CS20 Center with RTiA5s okay?

Hi All,

I just joined the forum and I'm working on some much needed upgrades to my home audio. I've read a lot of good
information on this board so far and wanted to run a few things by some folks in the "know".

Here is what I have so far:
Pioneer 1016txvk Receiver
Polk RC80i x 4 in-ceiling (bad decision putting these in when building my house)
Polk CS20 Center
BIC Americana F12

The RC80i ceiling speakers just aren't cutting it so I'm going to unhook the two front ceiling speakers and put some
floor standing speakers in. I'm torn on timbre matching the CS20 with the tsi500s or going for a better look/quality
with the RTiA5s. I would rather buy the RTiA5s but I can't find anyone running this exact setup. Anyone have
thoughts on if the CS20 with RTiA5s will be okay?

Also do the RTiA5s need more power than the Pioneer can give them or will they be good without? If so, any
opinion on extra power for these? 2 channel for just the RTiA5s or 3 channel to include the CS20? I'm probably
overthinking this to be honest.

Thanks for any replies/thoughts.
-Sam

I ran my A5's with a cs10 center for about a month, sounded pretty good but then got a csia4 to match the fronts, and did notice a difference. That Avr of yours would run the A5's fine. A little dilemma for you owning the cs20 they would match the TSI's just fine, or you could get the A5's and run the cs20 and save up for a csia4 or csia6 down the road.

The fronts should be timbre matched. I forgot welcome to club Polk!

I agree with everything you said gudonyez. And further should you decide on a separate Power amp I would choose the 3 channel over the two. The use of different amps can make the channels sound different.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. Great Guys.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'm going to go with the TSI500s to cut the cost of having to do another center channel. I have read about the importance of timbre matching so the responses don't surprise but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Polk Direct on ebay has the refurb TSI500s for ~$250 if anyone else is interested.

    Thanks again!

Hey Sam, welcome to the club and welcome to your rabbit hole!

Good choice on the TSi's. One tip, the more power you feed them, the better they will sound.

Go with the csi a6 or csi a4 to better match the sound of the a5's
