Didn't we already deal with this in another thread?

As far as trying to use the kenwood tuner, you might be able to use a tape monitor loop, but the quality might be iffy.

Briefly. Connect your Hafler to the Onkyo then, assuming the Hafler has a tape IN, select that source on the Hafler. Run the TAPE MONITOR OUTS on the Kenwood the the INS on the Hafler. Then select TAPE MONITOR "ON" on the Kenwood while you also select FM-Stereo as the output from the Kenwood. Theoretically that should send the FM signal to the Tape so it could be recorded by the tape deck. But in this case there is NO tape deck just the input to the Hafler.

    Give that a try.

And then have a beer, eat some turkey and watch a little football. H-T-Giving!

Mainly because your Kenwood does not have a dedicated tuner output. I am assuming you think the Hafler preamp sounds better than the Kenwood? You need to find a dedicated tuner though. If you are interested I have an old digital Onkyo tuner I no longer use.

thanks for the offer on the tuner, gary; for better or worse, i'm a vintage analog junkie. (cd player an exception) the jury is still out on the hafler vs. kenwood as a preamp, as they do sound different. i think i need to listen thru the hafler more at this point. the kenwood sounded "brighter" but i hear more thru the hafler, if that makes any sense. i also want to get the hafler re-capped, etc. i know it's a very good preamp, and i got it for a very good price. just need to get used to it. in any event, the kenwood's always got a home. thanks again.
