Speaker setup for Van

Hi,

I have a large van and I'm trying to setup a speaker system which I've found may be a bit odd, so I wanted to post what I was doing and see if anyone had any better ideas.

The basic goal is to make the speakers in the back of the van drive harder since it's a huge cavity and when I put the Fade to the rear to get a good front-back balance, the volume overall is too low since the rear speakers can't carry the sound far enough.

So, I have a headset which has 2 openings for amp connections. (not 4 - Right F, Right R, Left F, Left R), it only has 2, so I'm making the assumption that it's just left-right and no fading is supported there.

I'm trying to take these 2 ports and run it through a crossover and get a subwoofer channel, which I'll drive through an amp and get good base (which is the easy part), then take the mid-high portion and run it through another amp and get 4 - 6x9's to drive. These 4 would be for the middle-back of the van.

I'm thinking I'll drive the front speakers in the van from the head-unit's amp.

So, keeping in mind that I'm just building somethig decent to listen to, with some good noise, not a full competition system, does it seem like I'm heading down the correct path?

I'm concerned that the head-unit only has 2 outputs for the amps, and I'm wondering if I should switch it out for a better unit which has 6 outputs (4 for general speakers, 2 for subs). - If this is your recommendation, what would you recommend? I don't need fancy, I do appreciate a good radio, CD built in, and Blue Tooth, but I don't need nav junk and all of the extra jazz.

Keep in mind, I'm on a budget, so I'd rather not throw away equipment if I can make use of the current headunit.

Any help or opinions are appreciated.

sounds more complicated than both of my vans .
You will find whenever you run a amp for rears and the head unit ( h/u ) to the fronts you will run out of power/sound on the fronts .
What I did was use a low budget electronic 2-way crossover the high side goes to amp for the door speakers and the low to a sub amp in the rear , if want want rear mids/higs I did it with 8 ohm home speakers since back than 2 ohm amps werent around .
The only problems I had was when I went 2 ohms ( 4 car speakers ) instead of the home 8 ohm setup in the back .

I would recommend a Pioneer 80prs or the 9400BH for the headunit. For sub power I'm a fan of Crescendo amps, but would also tell you to check out Audioque and Sundown. For driving your mids/highs MB Quart Onx4.125 is a beast of an amp for a great price right now.
