so a few months back I was in Kamploops, BC and stopped at Tree Brewing co, and tasted some of their micro brews.. and one I absolutely loved was called Vertical Winter Ale. it's a smooth ale with a slight vanilla finish. sounds odd, but it works, and works well.

I'm about 5.5 hours South of Kamloops in the states though.. not a big deal.. but it's not a trip i want to make in one day.. so i'll spend the night and what not while up there.. problem is.. how much Canadian beer can I bring back into the US?

i've heard everyone say something different.. from 1 case per adult.. to no limit, just have to declare it and pay a
duty fee.

anyone know for sure? how much beer I can bring back into the US? I search the .gov sites for both countries. and I could not find a solid answer.
PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I would contact US customs as they are the regulatory authority for you regarding duty. Not sure if this info is totally current.

Personal Allowances for Americans Returning to the US after Less than 48 Hrs:
After a stay of less than 48 hours in Canada, a U.S. citizen or resident may return to the U.S. with:

US$200 worth of goods per person, tax and duty free
150 ml (5 oz) alcohol and 10 cigars (non Cuban)
Any purchases in excess of the US$200 allowance may be subject to duties and taxes.
US citizens may buy these amounts daily.

US$800 worth of goods per person, tax and duty free
Purchases may include 1 liter of alcohol, 200 cigarettes (1 carton), and 100 cigars.
Family members may combine their tax and duty allowances.
Any purchases in excess of the US$800 allowance may be subject to duties and taxes.
US citizens may buy these amounts once a month.

Duties & Taxes Charged for Exceeding Personal Allowances:
If you exceed your duty free allowances and exemptions entering the U.S. the following approximate US duty and tax rates may apply.

US $2 - $3 per bottle of liquor*

You could just pay the tax on it coming back. I believe it 2L per person is duty free, how that works out in beer not sure.

My neighbor and I drink a lot of Korn a German liquor, I asked how he has so much of that? His response I paid's the tax coming in, he acted as it was only a few bucks. He brings back a suitcase of hard liquor like every time.
