I have Allison 2 speakers and they still sound great but are old. I am interested in Tekton (sp) Design Lore speakers which have received great reviews by owners and magazines. Does anyone have any recommendations?

The Allison Twos are excellent speakers; have yours been refoamed?

The Tekton (yes you spelled it correctly) Lore is a very different beast; a high-sensitivity loudspeaker for fleapowered amplifiers (e.g., single ended, directly heated triode vacuum tube amplfiers at a couple of watts per channel). The Lores are getting high praise at places like audioasylum and audiokarma. Tekton has other high-sensitivity loudspeakers as well and their prices are good. That said, the best amplifer for the Allison Twos won't be too ideal for the Tektons and vice versa.

The bottom line answer is simple to me - keep the Allisons, get the Lores, and get yourself a nice single-ended 2A3 amplifier, too!

    :-)

Thanks for the advice. Yes, the speakers have been refoamed which brings up another question. How often should they be refoamed? Thanks
