Hook up wire shield attachment question

Feeling lazy, Googled once and didn't find my answer.

Redoing some things in my pre amp. The hook up wire I'm using for the inputs and outputs has a twisted pair with a shield around it. One leg to positive, one to negative. If my memory serves (which it does not sometimes) the shield around the wire gets hooked to ground, but only at one end. Is it the source or the destination end?

I thought the shield was supposed to be grounded to the source end of the cable...

Drains are supposed to go to the lowest impedance end available. For interconnects, this is the output. Inside a pre, use judgement as to which this would be. Probably doesn't matter much.

The shield in IC's is generally connected at the source end.Internally it would ideally be connected to the components star ground point be it from the input or output end of the cable.

Source, although I've tried it both ways and wasn't able to hear a difference.
