right now best buy as the psw110 for $125. and i can get the psw550 for $199 at amazon.
i have a descent size living room. i just don't know which will will be a better bass sound. from a couple of my friends they tell me to get a downfiring sub. i have the polk 5.25 bookshelf speakers for the rear. polk dual 5.24 center channel. my front are old mits. 3 way with 12' subs in them. i will be upgrading them after the subwoofer. i do not have a sub. my wife doesn't care for alot of bass. however i do. so i really don't wonna go over $200.00 which one would work the best. my living room is a med. to big size room.. my 42 tv is in a entertainment center on a corner angle. the subwoofer will go behind it. so any suggestions?>

Will you be using the sub for music or home theater mostly? I would highly recommend the PSW505 for home theater (and personally use one), but might consider something else for music. That subwoofer has a lot of muscle for movie soundtracks, but isn't as "musical" as some.

mostly movies. but once in awhile for music. also what would be the best polk towers for my front speakers?
right now i have the old mits. 3 way with 12 sub in them. i will be upgrading them after the holidays. my center channel is CS20 and my rear of 5.25 polk bookshelfs (T15 BLACK) once i get done with subwoofer and front speakers then i will get towers for the rear. my receiver is a sony 6.1 pushs 107 rms per channel. if that helps any.
once i get done with my upgrades then i'll get a better receiver. so far i been pretty happy with the sony one tho. it's all digital. hdmi in and out. so i will have to go with the psw505 from what i hear. and what for front speakers?

For mostly movies/occasional music, I would definitely go with the 505. That is how I use mine, and I'm quite pleased with the performance. I can't give a recommendation for towers--I haven't heard much of the new stuff. However, if I were to do towers front & rear, I would definitely want more power than your AVR is putting out. I'm using Polk RT7 mains, which are a large bookshelf speaker (see my sig), and small surrounds on stands in the rear. Towers might reduce your reliance on the sub for music, but won't necessarily improve home theater performance unless you're really putting out some power, as the demanding stuff under 80Hz should be routed to your sub anyway in a home theater setup.

The PSW110 has the same inputs as the 505, so it would work in the same situations. It just doesn't have the power/output that the 505 has. You would use "LFE in" on either sub.

Glad to help. Large bookshelves like the RT7 work really well as mains or rears for HT. I think in today's lineup, the closest thing to my RT7's would be the RTiA3. If you go to towers in the front, you might consider the RTiA5. Towers in the rear would be overkill, IMO. RTiA5 or RTiA3 fronts and RTiA3 or RTiA1 rear would be a good setup for your receiver.

If you wanted to go (much) cheaper, you could do Monitor 50s or 60s in front, Monitor 40 in rear. You, of course, will need to match a center channel to whatever you go with in front.

The monitor series can be found for very good prices at Polk's Ebay store.
