New to Polk, need a recomdenation

Hello everybody, first post, so please be gentle.
I previously had a Onkyo 9300 7.1 system, well about 2 weeks ago, the HT-R890 receiver died, and Onkyo replaced it with a TX-NR717, which was a upgrade in my opinion, while the Onkyo speakers were OK, I noticed with 717, they were lacking a lot of detail and generally poor in the sound stage area.I don't know why I just noticed this, but, its definitely a issue.
this system is in my office, so I decided to buy some new speakers, and this is what I went with.
4 Polk Audio Monitor30 Series II for surrounds and rear channels
Polk Audio CS1 Series II Center Channel Speaker
Polk Audio Monitor40 Series II for fronts
Polk Audio PSW Series PSW110
this room is about 20 x 15, and I know 7.1 is overkill, but, ya now how it goes.
anyway, I would like some thoughts on this setup, and possible setup suggestions, also, I am going to need some new speaker stands, and some recommendations there, any help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome. Many have found, both here and elsewhere, that the Onkyo receivers in the XXX7 and XXX8 series run on the warm side. Some have had to replace the HDMI board because of this, both while under warranty and later. Most have recommended using a small USB powered fan to cool the receiver or some other type of external cooling fan. There are many theads on this at AVS and others.

I definitely will, the speakers wont be here for a few days.
First order of business is to buy some stands in the 28 tto 30 inch range, thanx for the recommendation, those are just a touch short, I may be able to go to 24inch stands, maybe, but my desk sits right at 30 inches -
the TX717 runs a little warm, but, not nearly as warm as the 890 with I did have fanned, the 890 would get very warm to the touch, the 717 doesn't get nearly as warm, and seems like its much cleaner in the sound department, which is why I think I noticed the difference right off the bat, when I changed over

And yes the my onkyo sr705 is a toaster and must be on the top shelf of an open rack or the noisy fans run constantly.Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant
